Funeral service for Alton Ray Mitchell, 74, of Trinity, will be Sunday, August 25, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Parkway Funeral Home with Bro. Jeff Griffus officiating and Parkway Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be tonight from 4-7 at funeral home. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetary.

Mr. Mitchell died on August 23, 2013, at his home. He was born on October 18, 1938, in Lawrence County to the late Bennie Otto Mitchell and Letha Mae Mitchell. He was a graduate of Mt. Hope High School, and the owner of Mitchell Contractors. He was self-employed as an Excavation Contractor and Master Craftsman. He created roads in Bankhead National Forest for the National Forest Service, and other custom work. He was the Auxillary Deputy with Lawrence County Sheriff's Office, and a past credit Manager for W.T. Grants. He was a member and past trustee for Faith Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Bonita Butler Mitchell; stepsons, Jerry "Jay" Warren (Dixie) of Limestone County, and Damon (Donna) Brooks of Winston County; daughters, Leslie "Sissy" (Tommy) O'dell of Morgan County, and Lylia Annette (Tommy)Mitchell of Limestone County; brothers, John Rayburn Ray (Ruby) Mitchell of Lawrence County; sister, Ruby Helon Cook of Stone Mountain, GA; 15 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Jacob Moore, Carl Mitchell, Brandon Braswell, JB Brooks, Justin Alexander, and Jerry Warren.
