08/10/2005 Marian Hersch Gillespie, age 88, of South Toledo, passed away August 7, 2005, in her residence. Born in Toledo, Ohio on April 2, 1917, to Alfred and Anna (Nehls) Hersch. Mrs. Gillespie was executive secretary to 9 plant managers at the DuPont Chemical Co. at the Tremainsville Rd. plant for over 30 years. Previously Mrs. Gillespie had worked as a secretary for the Connecticut Mutual Co. A 1935 graduate of Libbey High School, she received her associates degree in business from Stautzenberger College. Marian had an extraordinary zest for life and was a former member of various social societies, traveled many times to Florida, enjoyed photography, and attended many Big Band performances.
Marian was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Anna, and three brothers, Robert, Louis and Kenmore Hersch. Surviving are her nieces and nephews, Chris Hersch, Tim (Cindy) Hersch, Kerry (Mary) Hersch, Brian (Maria) Hersch, Dorian (Ronald) Thome, Amy Hersch, Jim (Judy) Hersch, Gary (Denise) Hersch, Doug Hersch, Tom (Sharon) Hersch. Also surviving are many great nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the Bersticker-Scott Funeral Home, 3453 Heatherdowns Blvd. at Byrne Rd., Thursday 4-9 p.m. where services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be at Union Cemetery in Oak Harbor, Ohio. The family suggests memorials to the charity of the donor's choice.
