C. W. SHERIDAN DEAD.
C. W. Sheridan, 706 Peyton, died at his home Saturday night after an illness of five days. Funeral services will be held at the Friend[s] church Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Rev. H. G. Biddlecum, pastor of the church, will have charge of the services.
Mr. Sheridan was born in Spiceland, Ind., in 1851, and moved to farm in Emporia in 1881. He was married in Lynnville, Iowa, in 1879 to Miss Etha Lisor, who died in Emporia in 1915.
In 1902 Mr. Sheridan became one of the four original rural mail carriers in Emporia, and continued in that work until 1920. He was married in 1918 to Mrs. Bertha Sims, of Emporia.
Mr. Sheridan is survived by Mrs. Sheridan, one daughter, Mrs. Floy Witherspoon, of Kansas City, Mo.; two sons, Bert Sheridan and George Sheridan, of Emporia; and four sisters, Mrs. Susan Mitchell, of Searsboro, Iowa; Mrs. Hettie Stanley, of Lynnville, Iowa; Mrs. Lizzie Overman, of Philomouth, Ore.; and Mrs. Myra Kinley, of Pasadena, Calif.
Mr. Sheridan was a birthright member of the Friends church, and had been a member of the Emporia church since 1902.
Interment will be made in Maplewood cemetery.
