Mrs. Griffith, 93 of Jackson passed away on Friday, August 23, 2013. A Graveside Service will be held on Sunday August 25,2013 at 1:00 pm in Highland Memorial Gardens, with Dr. Paul Clayton officiating.
She was born on September 22, 1919 in Union Town, AL. She began her long life by losing both her mother and her twin brother on that day. She was carried to Lincoln Co.,TN where she lived with her grandparents. In 1940 she married Hugh "Doe" Griffith. She was a 26 year employee of J.C. Penney Company in Jackson where she worked in the Girl Scout Dept and was an active member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church.
Gertrude was preceded in death by her Mother; Mrs. Gertrude McCown Carter, her father; Robert J. Carter in 1957, her husband; "Doe" in 1990, and her daughter; Judy in 2006, and is survived by one son, Larry who resides in California, and also devoted cousins and friends.
