"Mrs. Martha Catherine Waddle Meece, 87, died Tuesday night at her home in Alcalde. She had been in declining health for some time.

The daughter of the late Henry and Mary Ann Waddle, she was born in this county Feb. 24, 1868. She married Fountain Meece and he preceded her in death by several years.

Mrs. Meece was a member of the New Enterprise Baptist Church for many years. Her long life was spent in the service of her Lord and her family, and she gave freely of her love and her time to both. Her many friends throughout this section are saddened at the news of Aunt Matt's death.

Mrs. Meece is survived by several relatives in this section of the state.

Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock this afternoon in the New Enterprise Baptist Church. The Rev. Bert Whitaker and the Rev. Cartell Burdine conducted the services. Burial was in the Alcalde cemetery."
