GEORGE R. SHERIDAN DEAD

George R. Sheridan, 824 State St., former superintendent of the mails at the Emporia Post Office, died this morning in Newman Memorial County Hospital.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home.

The son of Charles W. and Etha Lisor Sheridan was born Feb. 14th, 1892, on a farm southeast of Emporia, and had lived in Emporia since 1902. He was married to Josephine F. Benson June 3rd, 1914, in Emporia. He was an employe of the post office for 43 years, and had served as superintendent of the mails for 25 years before his retirement July 1st, 1953. He was a member of the First Friends Church, the Emporia Kiwanis Club and the state and national Postal Supervisors organizations. He was preceded in death by one son, Charles C., who was killed in action in World War II, and by one brother, Bert. He is survived by his wife, of the home; two sons, G. Edward, of Englewood, Calif., and Earl A., of Livermore, Calif.; one sister, Mrs. E. P. Witherspoon, Kansas City, Mo., and two grandchildren, Lynne E. Sheridan, Englewood, and Charles Edward Sheridan, Livermore.
