Funeral services were to be held at 5 o'clock this afternoon at the James-Coker-Peters Funeral Chapel for F.N. Hopkins, Sr., 74, retired manufacturer and wholesale grocer and well-known in this section of the state, who passed away in a local hospital Wednesday afternoon at 4 o'clock. He had been in ill health two years and had been seriously ill for several days.

Rev. Harrison Baker, pastor of Oak Cliff Methodist church, was to conduct the rites, with burial in Forest Park. Pallbearers are Herman Winans, Hal Ellis, J.E. Morris, J.W. Pratt, F.E. Shirey, D.S. Armstrong, Alba; John Henson, Sr., Walter Dunlap, Marvin Jones and O.A. Cain.

Honorary pallbearers are all friends of the family.

Born April 16, 1874 near Alba, Mr. Hopkins was reared in that community. He came to Greenville in 1912 and for many years was prominently identified in local business and civic circles. He contributed much of his time and means toward the development of Greenville and Hunt county. He was a founder and partner of the Hopkins-McClain Wholesale Grocers firm in Greenville, which he successfully operated a number of years. When he entered the manufacturing field he operated the Wholesale Manufacturing Company manufacturers of rayon underwear. He was a member of Kavanaugh Methodist church.

His wife, Lola Ann Higgenbotham, whom he married on Jan. 30, 1898, preceded him in death in 1934. Two children preceded him in death.

Surviving are six children, Mrs. Thurman Bouknight, Miss Maud Hopkins and Mrs. Joe Peters of Greenville, Mrs. J.D. Langford, Jr., Tyler; Mrs. W.E. Pratt, Mineral Wells, and F.N. Hopkins, Jr., Dallas; one brother, George ?. Hopkins, Dallas, and two sisters, Mrs.Eula Gilbreath, Winnsboro, and Mrs. Cleo Eldridge, Dallas, and nine grandchildren, Mrs. Jack Harkey, Dallas, Thurman Bouknight, Greenville; Mike Hopkins, Dallas; Elizabeth Ann Jackson, Tyler; Billy and Rita Pratt, Mineral Wells; Newman, Ted and Jim Peters of Greenville.
