Margaret (Peggy) Box was born in South Carolina about 1799, the daughter of Edward and Nancy Box of Pendleton District. She married Fillmore(Philmore) Keele before July 1818 in Bedford County, Tennessee and they were the parents of known children: Maston Green Clay, born 1820; Elsie, born 1823; Margaret, born 1824; Richard Richmond, born 1825; Fillmore, Jr., born 1828; Melton (Milton) Jackson, born 1829; Thomas, born, 1834; Talitha, born 1836; and Mathias Washington Keele, born 1838. All born in Tennessee.
In 1859, Margaret's husband died in Warren County, Tennessee. In 1860, she was living with her son, Fillmore, Jr. and sometime between that time and 1880, they all moved to Hickory County, Missouri, and sons, Fillmore and Mathias, were living near each other there in 1880.
Margaret's death date nor her place of burial is presently known but she was living with Mathias in 1880 Hickory County, Mo. She was 81 years old at that time and she possibly died and was buried there.
