Her Memoriam - April 11, 1935
A reverent silence pervades the corridors of this home today - this home which has been the abiding place through joys and sorrows of the descendants of a pioneer Hoosier family for over a century. Another of our loved ones has completed her work here with us and has gone to be with those of our dear ones who have gone before and await our coming.
"God sees in her a worth
Too great for this dull Earth
And, beckoning, stands
At Heaven's open gate
Where all his angels wait
With welcoming hands"

Ida Biddle Elsbury was born on this farm September 22, 1865. She was called to her home above last Tuesday morning, April 9, 1935, at the age of 69 years, 5 months and 18 days. She was the granddaughter of Caleb and Polly Biddle who came to Indiana and settled here in 1828. She was the youngest of seven children of James M. and Esther Slaughter Biddle. Miss Biddle was united in marriage to Miles Elsbury on the 28th of December, 1891. Since then, with the exception of five years they have made their home on this farm. To this union was born a daughter and a son, Miss Vergie, who married Ray Tweedy and Glen, who married Miss Lola Jackson.
Mrs. Elsbury was an adherent of the Baptist faith of her Father and Mother, but she was given of her time and means to the churches of this community which she frequently attended.
There are left today mourning her loss, but cherishing her memory, her devoted husband and children, two grandchildren Miss Iola Tweedy and Robert Elsbury; two brothers, John and Charles W. Biddle, and a large circle of relatives, friends and neighbors who knew and loved her for her many kindnesses in this neighborhood throughout her useful and active life. A true Christian mother devoted to her family, her friends and her God.
"Sleep on dear one, such lives as theirs,
Have not been lived in vain,
But shed an influence rare, divine,
On lives that here remain."

We know there is no death.

"We can not say and will not say
That she is dead - she is just away.
With a cheery smile, and a wave of the hand,
She has wandered into an unknown land
And left us dreaming how very fair
It needs must be, since she lingers there.
Think of her still the same, we say:
She is not dead, she is just away."
