Helen grew up in the Lincoln Mill area and graduated from Lincoln High School in Huntsville in 1939 where she earned the American Legion Good Citizenship Award. She worked at Redstone during WW II and in the Lincoln Mill in the 1940"s and 1950's. She retired from Woolworth's in 1976. Helen joined the Lincoln Methodist Church as a young girl and remained a Methodist all of her life. She will be remembered for her devotion to her family, sense of humor, infectious smile, quick wit and generosity. All who knew her loved her. Helen was a devoted wife and mother.
Helen is survived by two sons: Wayne ( Cindy) of Decatur, and Ricky (Nancy) of Huntsville; two grandchildren: Christy Shelton Ragucci (Patluke) of Huntsville and Lee (Stephanie) Shelton of Helena, AL; three great grandchildren: Adyson, Molly and Ryleign Shelton of Helena, AL and one sister: Lois Troupe of Huntsville.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 1:00 p.m. at Berryhill Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Charles Boling officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Berryhill Funeral Home. She will be buried at Maple Hill Cemetery beside her late husband. The family would like to commend all of the great and wonderful staff at the Millennium Nursing Home and North Alabama Hospice for the care and love she has received.
