From the newspaper,
"The Philadelphia Inquirer",
dated June 11, 1907:

MERRICK-Suddenly, on June 8, 1907, WIL-
LIAM B., son of Sarah and the late James
Merrick, aged 53 years. Due notice of the
funeral will be given.

---------------------------

From the newspaper,
"The Philadelphia Inquirer",
dated June 20, 1907:

WASN'T DEAD AFTER ALL
--
Death Notice Referring to Another
William Merrick

William B. Merrick of Berlin, Camden
county, who thought he read his own
death notice in the newspapers of this
city several days ago need hunt no longer
for the man who was responsible for his
supposed premature obituary. It devel-
oped yesterday that the notice referred
to another William B. Merrick, also a
Jerseyite, who was killed last week while
superintending electrical construction work
at Atlantic City. Curiously enough, the
names of the parents of both men were
similar and each had lost his father by
death. Both men, too, were of the same
age. The Camden county Merrick was so
overwrought by the announcement that
he threatened legal action if he could as-
certain the identity of the person who
had so shocked himself and alarmed his
friends.
The man who was killed resided at
Pleasantville, N.J. The funeral took
place several days ago from the residence
of his mother, 236 South Forty-fifth street.
