Richard Mose Saig, 63, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on August 29, 2013. Richard was born in Jacksonville on September 15th 1949 to Mose and Mabel Saig. He was raised in Jacksonville, graduating from Lee High School in 1967. He then went on to graduate from the University of Florida in 1971 with degrees in Math and Chemistry. He returned to Jacksonville where he began a long career with the City of Jacksonville, working in Information Technology. He eventually became the Chief of the Information Technology Division for the City of Jacksonville. His service to the city spanned 28 years and five mayors before he retired in 2000. Richard was a dedicated family man and businessman, opening several small businesses in addition to his job with the city. He and a close cousin opened Cuzzin s Sandwich Shoppe on St. George Street in St. Augustine in 1978, which enjoyed 23 years of successful business. In retirement he began private consulting work. Richard always put his family first and made it his priority to be at all of his family s important functions. Later on in his retirement, Richard spent his time enjoying his family. He was a member of the University of Florida Alumni Association and being an avid Florida Gator fan, he and his family traveled to watch many Gator football and basketball games. Richard was an active member of Lakewood Presbyterian Church. Richard is preceded in death by his sisters, Betty Dunbar and Margaret Abraham. Richard is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Kathy, a son, two sisters, as well as numerous cousins, nephews and nieces. Visitation was September 02, 2103. A funeral service was held Tuesday, September 03, 2013 at Lakewood Presbyterian Church with Reverend Terry Lucarelli officiating.
