MIDDLETOWN, Md. - Philip Foster "Bill" Barkdoll, 68, of 8507 Bolivar Road, died Monday, May 7, 2001, at Northampton Manor Nursing Home in Frederick, Md.

Born Sept. 26, 1932, in Wolfsville, he was the son of the late Frances Louise Barkdoll.

He retired from Genstar Stone Products in Frederick as an operator.

He served in the U.S. Navy from 1955 to 1957.

He was a member, finance officer, a fundraising chairman and a membership drive chairman of Valley Memorial Post 9 AMVETS of Middletown; a member of Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 371 of Frederick; and The Democratic Club.

He is survived by aunts and uncles, including Rose and Fred Barkdoll of Middletown, who raised him; and cousins.

Services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, 31 E. Main St. in Middletown. The Rev. William M. Bucher will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mark's Lutheran Cemetery in Wolfsville.

The family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
