The beloved woman Mirel, wife of R' Yaakov Philips, died on the holy Sabbath the 6th of Shevat in the year 5644 [=2 February 1884].

Amelia (Meril/Miril, daughter of Pincus and File) was born in Kurnik in Posen, Prussia, joined her husband Jacob Phillips (originally Schradzki) who with their son Phineas had first moved to London (before 1841). In 1858 they left for America on the same ship as Jacob and Amelia Baum, also from Kurnik, who had settled in London. Jacob and Amelia Phillips had at least three children: Phineas Phillips who emigrated with his wife Elizabeth Barend to Cincinnati, Hamilton, Ohio; Harriet Phillips who married Herrman M Hirschfeld and lived in Louisville, Kentucky, and the "New Yorkers" Esther Phillips who married Solomon Charles Luckstone and left England shortly after their marriage in 1857. Most likely, Amalia Davidson (memorial 122238885) was also their daughter. After Jacob died in Baltimore, in 1871, Amelia moved to New York City with Esther and Charles Solomon Luckstone, her daughter and son-in-law. She died in 1884 at home, 32 Beekman Place in Manhattan.
