Tracy Mitchell Kegley Jr., 82, of Powell, a native of Birmingham, Alabama and a long-time resident of Anderson County, passed away on Oct. 30, 2005, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.


He was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church where he served as a Deacon and Elder. After serving in WW II, he achieved an Master of Science degree from the Univesity of Alabama in Metallurgical Engineering in Feb, 1951. Mr. Kegley was also a graduate of Birmingham Southern College and the University of Alabama, and was a member of Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity.


He worked at Southern Research in Birmingham prior to working at Oak Ridge National Lab. He retired from Martin Marietta in 1982.


He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was stationed in Guam. His US Navy service was from 11 Oct 1944 to 1 Jun 1946. His father also served in the US Navy during WW II.


He married Lottie Irene Coward 21 Jun 1958 in Anderson Couny, Tenn.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Tracey Mitchell Kegley Sr. and Willie Inez Adams Kegley; a brother, Fulton Garton Kegley; and sisters, Ruby Kegley and Florence Kegley.


Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Lottie Irene Coward Kegley of Powell; son, Joseph Kegley of Charlotte, N.C.; son and daughter-in-law, William and Molly Kegley of Clinton; grandchildren, Mary Kate Kegley and Anna Kegley of Clinton; sister and brother-in-law, Eugenia and Ted Barfoot of Adamsville, Ala.; and nieces and nephews.


The funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Covenant Presbyterian Church with Dr. Duncan Rankin officiating.The family requests that memorials be in the form of donations to the Alzheimer's Association, 2200 Southerland Ave., Knoxville, TN 37919.


Burial will be at the Jonesville Methodist Church Cemetery in Roane County.The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday evening at Weatherford Mortuary in Oak Ridge.
