The Jefferson Bee, Jefferson, Iowa, Tuesday, December 31, 1946, Page 1, Column 2 – Sarah C. Beebe, Pioneer Resident, Succumbed Dec. 25 – Funeral services for Mrs. Sarah C. Beebe, 90, pioneer Greene county resident who died Christmas Day at her home in Jefferson, were conducted Friday, Dec. 27, at 2 p.m. from Slininger's chapel. The Rev. Ellsworth L. Woods had charge of the rites and burial was made in the Jefferson cemetery. Music was provided by Mrs. Darwin P. Moore, soloist, who sang "The Lord's Prayer." She was accompanied by Joyce Rhoades. Casket bearers were Charles Reeder, Gene Try, Vern Selene, Jim Dillavou, Charles Mosteller and Mert Conklin.
Sarah C. Beebe, daughter of Lewis and Tabitha Wright was born Nov. 2, 1856, in Bristol township, Greene county, and died Dec. 25, 1946, at her home in Jefferson at the age of 90 years, 1 month and 23 days. Mrs. Beebe and three brothers and two sisters. On Dec. 24, 1870, she was married to Orsemus Beebe in Bristol township, and they became the parents of four children: Frank L. of Perry and Marian Lorence of Jefferson. Two daughters preceded their mother in death, and both were 13 years old. Vivian died March 19, 1889.
They made their home on a farm in Bristol township until the spring of 1905 when Mr. and Mrs. Beebe retired from farming and moved to Jefferson. Mr. Beebe preceded his wife in death on Oct. 26, 1930. Surviving are one son, one daughter, one grandson, Roy Beebe of Bueno Park, Calif., and one sister Celia Roberts of Des Moines.
Attending the funeral from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. A. T. Beebe, Mrs. J. H. Mellor and Mrs. Faye Mathews, all of Des Moines.
