Kenneth E. Wagner, Jr., 67, passed away at 12:55 a.m. Monday, September 2, 2013, at York Hospital. He was the husband of Susan (Zimmerman) Wagner, whom he married 42 years ago on August 14, 1971.

Kenneth was born October 2, 1945, in York, and was the son of the late Kenneth Wagner, Sr. and Anna (Sowers) Ilgenfritz.

In 1965 he graduated from York High School in York. He worked for over 30 years with York International, formerly York Borg Warner, before retiring in 2006. 'Kenneth proudly served his country in the United States Army. As a Vietnam Era Veteran, he also was assigned to the NSA during his service. He was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, York; UAW Local 1872; Viking Athletic Club; Yellow Breeches Anglers & Conservation Association;
and a former member of the Central York Athletic Boosters.

In addition to his wife, Susan, Kenneth is survived by his son, Matthew Wagner and his wife, Jennifer of York; his daughter, Rebecca Wagner of York; his three grandchildren, Tyler, Jared, and Allison; two brothers, Gary Wagner and his wife, Karen of Manchester, and Stephen Wagner and his wife, Cherylann of Harrisburg; his nephews, Greg, Gary Jr., and Daniel; and his nieces, Stephanie, Rose, Amy, Katherine, and Courtney.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his sister, Brenda Miyamasu. Ken learned to love fishing from his grandfather and made many fishing buddies throughout the area.

He dearly loved his grandchildren and watching them in their athletic activities. He also spent hours with his four-legged "kids" and observing the wildlife around his home.

His memorial service will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 7, 2013, at The Diehl Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 87 S. Main St., Mount Wolf. Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Manchester Lutheran Cemetery, Manchester.

Officiating at the service will be The Rev. Ruth D. Harvey from Trinity United Church of Christ. Military honors will be performed by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the SPCA, 3159 Susquehanna Trail North, York, PA 17406; or to American Heart Association, 610 Community Way, Lancaster, PA 17603.
