WILLIAMSPORT - JOHN MARTIN KENDLE, 74, of Route 3, Kendle Road, died Tuesday, July 11, at Washington County Hospital.

Born in Williamsport, he was the son of the late Elvin Roy and Rhoda May Sprecher Kendle. He was a supervisor of system operations for Potomac Edison, retiring in 1979 after 43 years of service. He was a member of the Rehoboth United Methodist Church, Williamsport.

He was also a member of the Medairy Lodge 140 AF & AM, Forest 95 Tall Cedars of Lebanon, the Hagerstown Shrine Club, Ali Ghan Temple of Cumberland, AAONM of Cumberland, Sayara Unit, 32nd Degree Mason in the Scottish Rite, the Kentucky Colonels of Western Maryland, Hagerstown Lodge 378 BPO Elks, Hagerstown Lodge 212 Loyal Order of Moose, and the Williamsport Lions Club.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth "Tillie" Moore Kendle; one daughter, Cheryl Wilkes, Williamsport; one son, John M. Kendle Jr., Charleston, SC; one sister, Gwendolyn Roulette, Sharpsburg; two granddaughters, Selena M. Wilkes and Lettie E. Wilkes, both of Williamsport.

Services will be held Friday at 2 pm at Osborne Funeral Home, Williamsport. The Rev. James E. Swecker will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 7 to 9 pm, where masonic services will be conducted by Medairy Lodge 140 at 7 pm.
