Graduating from the Wasatch Academy, he married Luella Hansen June 26, 1935. Well-like, with a ‘gift of gab' Monte was a salesman who enjoyed talking with people. Serving three stakes missions for the LDS Church, he was a home teacher. Active in politics, he loved gardening, raising fruits, vegetables and beautiful flowers. Coaching many little leagues teams in the neighborhood, he enjoyed participating in sports, particularly baseball. A member of the Jaycees and Lions, he served four terms in the National Guard.
His sons, James Fremont (Janice) Draper, Stephen Leon (Pat) Draper, and David William Draper; his sister, Lillian Craig; eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren survive him. His wife, Luella, parents, brothers, Doyle and James and sister, Annabel, preceded Monte in death.
