Bill was a very caring and hardworking man and a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family. Bill proudly served in the U. S. Navy for four years and retired from Dolese Bros. Co., he was a truck driver.

He leaves behind his wife of 57 years of marriage, Edith; and his children, Cynthia Newport and Danny, Loretta Whitfield and Mike, and Billy Don Whitfield; grandchildren, Cassidy and Mark, Cortney and Tony, Elizabeth, and Mary Ann; great-grandchildren, Callie, Weston, Ethan, Elias, and Nathan; niece, Lynn Lindsey; and nephews, Ronnie Wiggs and Kenny Carter. Visitation will be held at Sunny Lane Funeral Home on Friday the 6th from 2 to 8 p.m. and Saturday the 7th from 8 to 10 a.m. The Graveside Service will be held at Sunny Lane Cemetery at 11 a.m., with Tommy Haynes, of Central Church of Christ, officiating. The family wishes to extend their gratitude for all of the nurses through hospice.
