Our devoted mother and grandmother departed this life on Thursday, March 13, 1980 at the Medical College of Virginia Hospital, Richmond, Virginia. Vera Brooks Anderson was born in Buckingham County, Virginia, August 13, 1889. She was the daughter of the late Betty and James Brooks. She joined the Baptist Union Church at an early age and remained a member until the end. She was married to the late George Anderson and to this union 13 children were born. She always had an open heart to others and showed great concern. Her great faith in God kept her cheerful. Her favorite song was "Precious Lord, Take My Hand". She leaves to cherish her memory six children, three girls and three boys, Mrs. Willie Swann of Dillwyn, Virginia; Mrs. Ruby Reed, of Richmond, Virginia; Mrs. Betty Scruggs, of Baltimore, Maryland; George, Moses and Charles Anderson, all of Dillwyn, Virginia; one brother, James Brooks; 55 grandchildren; 80 great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; three sons-in-law; three daughters-in-law; one sister-in-law; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
