Fred Ackley, of 114 Thomas street, Sayre, died at the Packer hospital at that place on Saturday morning, Nov. 11, aged 74 years.

The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon at the Kolb funeral home Sayre, the Rev. Thomas Hermiz, officiating. And burial was in Tioga Point cemetery at Athens.

Mr Ackley was born at Cadis, Bradford County, Pa., and had lived the last 26 years at Sayre. He was a retired employee of the Lehigh Valley railroad, his duties having been in the power house. He was a member of the Sayre Baptist church. His wife died last April.

He leaves one daughter, Mrs. Alvah Judge, of Waits, N. Y.; two sons, Walter Ackley, of Sayre, and Coxswain Elmer J Ackley, U S Navy, somewhere in the Pacific; three sisters, Mrs Florence Sweeney, of Syracuse, widow of William Sweeney, late of Owego, Mrs Carrie Griswold, of Apalachin, and Mrs Bessie Judge, of Apalachin, and eight grandchildren.

Charles Frederick "Fred" ACKLEY and Mary Ella SHUMWAY were married about 1902 in Cadis, Bradford , Pennsylvania.31,47,49 Mary Ella SHUMWAY (daughter of Elmer Jason SHUMWAY and Nancy Esther NEMIER) was born about 1886 in Pennsylvania.31,32,47,49 She died in Apr 1944 in Binghamton, Broome, New York.32,53 She appeared in the census 1910, 1920 & 1930 in Pennsylvania.
