George Eugene Peacock, Jr. was born June 27, 1940, in the old Florence Nightingale Hospital in Dallas. He grew up on the high plains of West Texas in Big Spring where his father
was an obstetrician.

George received his premedical education at the University of Texas. He enrolled in Southwestern Medical School in September, 1961, and graduated in June, 1965.
Immediately after graduation he took a straight pathology internship at Parkland Hospital and completed his residency there in 1969.

He married Klata Woodul August 11, 1962. This union produced George Eugene Peacock, III, who was born September 25, 1972.

After completing his residency George became the Director of the Department of Pathology at Arlington Memorial Hospital in Arlington, Texas. In the fall of 1974 he noticed petechiae on his arms and, in examining a peripheral blood smear, diagnosed acute granulocytic leukemia on himself. He died February 7, 1975. He was 34 years old.
