Bob was born in Ilion, NY, on April 9, 1926, a son of George M. and Jane (Hartford) Carney. Bob was educated in local schools and was a 1949 graduate of Albany College of Pharmacy. He was an Army veteran of World War II. At Blessed Sacrament Church, Utica, on October 6, 1951, Bob married Patricia Barry. Bob began a working career with his father at Carney's Oneida Square Pharmacy, then in 1954 went to work for McKesson Pharmaceuticals, retiring in 1988. He was a parishioner and daily communicant of St. Peter's Church, North Utica.
Bob is survived by his wife, Patricia; three daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Remi Charlebois, Jr., N. Utica, Diane and Dale Stewart, Vestal, NY, and Linda and John Lee, Boonville; three sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas and Kathleen Carney, Endwell, NY, Paul and Sherry Carney, Monument, CO, and Jeffrey and Cindy Carney, Morganville, NJ; 17 grandchildren, Tim and Michele, Chris and Heather, and Remi III and Joanna Charlebois, Ryan, Tara, Sean and T.J. Carney, Devon and Brenon Stewart, Lauren and Mary Beth Carney, Jennie, Jared, Tracy, and Christie Lee, Troy and Shayna Carney; three great-grandchildren, Anthony, Alexis and Alyssa; and five sisters-in-law, Lee McGrew, New Hartford, Bib Hauck, GA, Joan Pupa, New Hartford, Mel Barry, WI, and Peggy Carney, Rochester. Bob was predeceased by two brothers, John and William Carney.
Mr. Carney's funeral will be held on Saturday, May 15, 2004, at 10:15 a.m. from the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., North Utica, and at 11 a.m. from St. Peter's Church. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Peter's Church in Bob's memory.
