Dewey C. Vinson, 60, of Perryville died Sunday, Nov. 17, 2002, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Dec. 8, 1941, in Perry County, son of William Harry and Clare K. Lintner Vinson. He and Sandra L. Wood were married Dec. 9, 1989, in Perryville.
Dewey had been a musician since age 7, and played for the public since the age of 12. He enjoyed music, hunting, fishing, horseshoes, cards and pool.
He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, charter member of Perryville Elks Lodge 2701, member of American Legion Boosters, AmVets Boosters, Country Music Association, and Perry County Sportsman's Club.
Survivors include his wife, Sandy; a daughter, Rachelle Vinson of Perryville; a sister, Earline Leible of Perryville; a sister-in-law, Jeanne French of Perryville; and Brittany Green who he loved as a daughter; aunts; nieces, nephews, cousins, and his dog, Sir Walter Wiggles.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Palmer Vinson; and a sister, LaAnna Brown.
Friends may call at Miller Family Funeral Home from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, and Thursday after 9 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church, with the Rev. Matthew Marks officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be fellow musicians, Ray Bohnert, Mark Weinkein, Glennon Brown, Tony Joyner, Eddie Dow and Mitch Michaud.
Memorials will be made to the family's choice.
