Asbury Park Press, Thursday, December 2,1920:
“Lakewood- The remains of Col. Charles Newton Lindley, who died in New York suddenly on Monday, were brought to Lakewood yesterday, where services were held at 2 PM, and burial made at Woodlawn Cemetery. Colonel Lindley with his family had made his home here the past two years, the deceased a lawyer, conducting offices at 115 Broadway, New York. He had been spending the weekends in Lakewood with Mrs. Lindley at the Laurel in the Pines. Mr. Lindley was born in Chillicothe, Ohio, and during the Spanish American War served in the staff of the governor of Ohio. His wife was Miss Mary Louise Denver, daughter of the late General J W Denver, former governor of Kansas, and after whom the city of Denver was named”.
