Born to Clemont Robert Austin, Sr and Edith M. (Armstrong) Austin. He enlisted in the US Army and while stationed in Franklin County, Ohio April 8, 1944 he married Martha Jane Squire, daughter of Harry and Stella (Short) Squire. He mustered out of the Army 16 February 1946 with the rank of Captain. When he was 68 years old he married Charlotte (Stone) Smith January 31, 1987 in Franklin County, Ohio. He lived his last years in Fairview, Erie County, Pennsylvania where he died. (Military Burial Record, Lowville Cemetery, Fairview, Erie, Pennsylvania)
