Luverne "Bud" Sederstrom, 82, Davenport, formerly of Mission, Texas, passed away Thursday, Jan. 29, 1998, at Manor Care Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Memorial services are noon Monday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Davenport. Burial will follow at National Cemetery, Rock Island. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Disabled American Vets. Runge Mortuary, Davenport, is in charge of arrangements. He was born Aug. 24, 1915, in Arlington, S.D., the son of Ivan and Hattie Schmidt Sederstrom. He was united in marriage to Lois Miller on March 15, 1941, at St. Mark Evangelical Lutheran Church, Davenport. She preceded him in death in 1991. Mr. Sederstrom had served in the U.S. Army during WWII. One of his duties including being a body guard for General Eisenhower. Later during his service, he was captured and a POW for two years. He had been employed as a truck driver for AMOCO in Davenport for 30 years, retiring in 1971 to Mission, Texas. He was past president of Ernies Little League and was also active in Elks and Moose Lodge in Mission. He enjoyed traveling throughout the world. Survivors include a daughter, Karen Neal, Davenport; sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Kathy, Overland Park, Kan., and Ivan "Ike" and Christine, Davenport; grandchildren, Jill and Kyle Sederstrom, Overland Park, David Stickler, Las Vegas, Chris and Joel Smith, Las Vegas, Keli and Troy Neal, Davenport, and Ryne Sederstrom, Davenport; great-grandchildren, Adam and Katie Smith, Las Vegas; sisters, lone Olson, Arlington, S.D., and Maxine Wood, Madison, S.D.; and brothers, Kenneth and Beverly Sederstrom, Sioux Falls, S.D., and Eugene and Iedia Sederstrom, Hawarden, Iowa. He was preceded by a sister, Genieve Phelps.
