Rudolph Borgwardt, retired town of Newton farmer, died Tuesday evening at the home of his son, Edwin, Manitowoc route 3, after a long illness. The funeral will be held Saturday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock from the residence of Edwin Borgwardt and at 2 o'clock at St. John's Lutheran church of Newton. The Rev. Edward Kionka will officiate and burial will be removed to the Borgwardt residence on route 3 from the Pfeffer funeral home Friday and will lie in state at the home until the hour of the services.

Mr. Borgwardt was born in the Town of Liberty June 19, 1866. He married Miss Anna Ahlers March 18, 1893. They resided on the homestead farm in Newton up to 14 years ago when they retired from farming to live with their son, Edwin, on his farm. Mr. and Mrs. Borgwardt celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on March 18 of this year.

Survivors are the widow, four sons, Edwin, John and Walter of the town of Newton and Alfred of Manitowoc; one brother, Christ Borgwardt of the town of Liberty; three sisters, Mrs. Albert Haese and Mrs. John Sieber of Manitowoc and Mrs. William Sonnenberg of the town of Liberty; and five grandchildren.
