Bill Cooling died at his home following a lengthy illness.

He was born the son of Aileen Rose (Coyle) Cooling and Francis William Cooling.

Bill's childhood was spent in the Cartersville and Dougherty areas where his father farmed. Following graduation from Rockford High School in Rockford, Iowa, Bill continued to live in Iowa assisting his father with the family farm and doing some farming on his own.

In 1962 he was drafted into the Army doing his military service at Fort Carson in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The Colorado mountains were not ‘love at first sight' for Bill—they blocked his view!

On June 26, 1965 Bill married Pearl Cardenas at St. Mary Catholic Church in Colorado Springs. The couple made their home in Colorado living in Colorado Springs, Wheat Ridge and then moving to Montrose in 1976.

For 20 years Bill along with his brother, Don, were owners/founders of Cooling's Heating and Air Conditioning, Inc. Upon purchasing the business from Jim Newberry, Bill learned the basics of sheet metal fabrication from Jim. Since then to his retirement in 2007, Bill bent and pounded all sorts of metal into many different shapes for many different uses. During this time, he met and worked with many fine people. He was always up to the challenge of bending metal to meet their needs. He thought, "if they can dream it up, I can fabricate it".

Bill enjoyed sports from coaching his daughters' teams, to being a spectator. Camping and traveling were some of his other interests.

Surviving family members are his wife, Pearl; his daughters, Nicole Cooling and Rebecca (Michael) Romero of Montrose. His beloved grandchildren are: Jamaica and Asia Barrientos, Mia and Izabella Romero, Essa and Michael Romero.

He is also survived by his sisters Ann (Frank) Weiner of Nora Springs, Iowa; Kay Gleason of Mason City, Iowa; Judy (Jerry) Conner of Belmond, Iowa; his brothers Hugh Cooling, Apache Junction, Arizona; Don (Marilyn) Cooling, Montrose, Colorado and Jerry (Phyllis) Cooling, Mason City, Iowa. Bill's parents preceded him in death.

Burial will be in Grand View Cemetery in Montrose, Colorado.
