Mrs. Goddard died Saturday, September 7, 2013. Born in Saluda, she was a daughter of the late Henry Mathew and Jessie Hughes Crouch. She retired from the Social Security Administration and was a member of Rose Hill Presbyterian Church. She was active in the Officers Club at Fort Jackson and was a member of several bridge clubs.
Surviving are her daughters, Marcia Smith (Leon) of Columbia, Elizabeth Clark of Irmo; sons, James Whitaker (Mary) of Columbia, Michael Whitaker (Billie) of Hopkins; sister, Christine Shealy of Saluda; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, James E. Goddard; two brothers, Roger H. Crouch and Henry M. Crouch, Jr.; and three sisters, Katie Sedell, Aline Sample, and Rachel Kauffmann.
