LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. - Vivian June Parsons Cox, 85, passed away Friday, Jan. 25, 2013.

Born Nov. 28, 1927 in Richmond, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Rudolph and Henrietta Slusher Parsons.

She was a homemaker and a retired store clerk. She was a member of Kentucky for the Commonwealth, a volunteer at OPAC, and did volunteer work at schools. She enjoyed gardening and flowers, and quilting, and was affiliated with the Baptist faith.

She was united in marriage to Adron Cox, who preceded her in death.

Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by three siblings, Ralph, Lorene and Willis Parsons.

Survivors include two sons, John L. (Sherry) Cox, London, and Hank V. Cox, Santa Clara, Calif.; a daughter, Joyce A. (Kenneth) Konitzer, London; three brothers, Jack Parsons, Bimble, Ky., Glen Parsons, Lawrenceburg, Tenn., and Guy Parsons, Barbourville, Ky.; two sisters, Carrie Rice, Bimble, Ky., and Sophia Rice, Lily; five grandchildren, Melinda and Rick Brock, Chance (Melissa) Konitzer, Pamela Cox and Rondecca (Victor) Kam; four step-grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; plus a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.

Funeral services wre held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27 in the chapel of Bowling Funeral Home with the Rev. Bobby Helton and the Rev. Steve House officiating.

Burial followed in Balkan Cemetery in Balkan, Ky.

Visitation was from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Jude Children's Hospital
