AGED MAHOMET WOMAN FOLLOWS HUSBAND TO GRAVE.
Mahomet, Ill., January 3.- Mrs. Mary E. Abbott died at the home of H. J. Morehouse in this village at 9 o'clock this morning. She had gradually failed from the time of the death of her husband, Stephen C. Abbott, which occurred several months ago. Her condition became so serious last Saturday that she was transferred to the Morehouse home from her own residence.
Mary E. Rea was born in Lewis county, Ky., on February 20, 1838, her parents being John J. and T. Rea. Her marriage to Mr. Abbott took place in Mahomet township on February 21, 1854. To whom were born three children, Bryon D., deceased, Mrs. Laura Morehouse and A. C. Abbott of Pomona, Cal. Besides these Mrs. Abbott is survived by her mother, Mrs. Sarah B. Rea of this place, two brothers, T. H. Rea of this place and J. J. Rea of Urbana, and a sister, Mrs. W. O. Smith of Ludlow. The deceased was a member of the Baptist church from an early age.
The funeral will be held at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon. Services will be held at the Morehouse residence. Interment will be made in the old cemetery.
