Mary Elizabeth Blackburn Morris, 89, of Effingham, passed away on Tuesday, September 10, 2013, at a local healthcare facility.
Mrs. Morris was born in Huntsville, Alabama, a daughter of the late John Blackburn and Mary Lou Owen Blackburn. She was a member of Greenwood Baptist Church. Mrs. Morris worked as a beautician at Quick Beauty Salon in Alabama and was a bookkeeper for her husband at Morris Construction in Effingham. She also worked at Sacred Sky Farms in Effingham. She was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She loved to pass the time watching the hummingbirds and peacocks outside her bedroom window. She enjoyed listening to the Gaither Choir. She loved meeting and talking to new people. She always had a smile to share with everyone. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She is preceded in death in addition to her parents, by her husband, Willie Mack Morris; her daughter, Letha Morris; and ten siblings.
Surviving are her children, Steve (Donnette) Morris of Turbeville, Karel (Johnny) Ivey of Effingham, Mary (James) Beshears of Killen, AL, Betty Allen of Florence, and Fred (Tammy) Morris of Effingham; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and special sister-in-law, Evelyn Morris of Effingham.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Thursday, September 12, 2013 in the Chapel of Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Florence Memorial Gardens directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
