EAST PROVIDENCE – Dorothy (Arnold) Sparfven, 88, of Metacomet Ave., Rumford, died Sunday, March 8, 2009 at the Miriam Hospital. She was the wife of the late William J. Sparfven.
Born Dec. 10, 1920, in East Providence, she was a daughter of the late Anthony and Myra (Greene) Arnold.
She is survived by her children, Michael Sparfven of Providence, Patricia Thomas of East Providence, Dorothy Rourke and her husband James, of Riverside and Ft. Myers, FL, and Mary Sparfven of Rumford; nine grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, one great-great grandson; her brother, Anthony Arnold III of Lakeland, FL and her sister, Barbara Belford of Pawtucket.
She was the mother of the late Thomas, William and Elizabeth Sparfven and sister of the late Marion Richardson, Margaret Webber, Mary Altieri, Josephine Spies, and Anthony, George, and Joseph Arnold.
The funeral with burial at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery is private. Arrangements through the REBELLO FUNERAL HOME.
