Wife of Elias Carter Spragins (1841-1871) Confederate Veteran. Married 1863. After husbands death moved to Texas. Children are Catherine Word (1864-1885) & Robert (1868-1952). Older brother had moved to Texas prior to Civil War. She lived with older brother in Texas during early days of war and then returned home to AL. Was accused of being a Confederate spy. Later wrote a poem that received some fame. Headstone was damaged by a storm. Buried next to her daughter and son-in-law William Alexander Evins, who came with them from Al.
