Ruby Mae Hendrix Carey, 89, of the Brown Memorial Convalescent Center in Royston, died Tuesday, May 20, 2008.

She was born on November 8, 1918, the daughter of the late George and English Hendrix. She worked in the textile industry and was a member of the New Hope Worship Center. Mrs. Carey was thrice married, first to the late Glenn Bolmon, second to the late Penick Price, and third to the late S.T. Carey. She was preceded in death by a step-son, R.E. Bolmon; and brothers, Olin Hendrix and Henry Grady Hendrix.

Survivors include daughters, Kathy P. Wilson, Royston, Mildred Maddox, Athens, Floydell Barnes, Hartwell; step-daughters, Haze Finley, Hartwell, Jean Spitler, Atlanta, Polly Sartain, Athens, Shelby Sartain, Danielsville; step-sons, Leland Price, Dennis Price and Jo Ed Price, all of Royston; sisters, Ruth Sanders and Mary Harden, both of Seneca, S.C., Cleo H. Plant, Atlanta; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Thursday, May 22, at New Hope Worship Center with the Revs. Dennis Kesler and Johnny Stowe officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Pruitt Funeral Home, Royston, was in charge of arrangements.
