Janice Rebecca Akins, 62, of Jasper, passed away Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013. She was born on Dec. 25, 1950.
Memorial services will be held Thursday, Sept. 12, 2013, from 6 until 8 p.m. in the Collins-Burke Chapel.
Akins was preceded in death by her father, James (Dick) Akins; and mother, Augusta Yarborough Akins.
She is survived by her husband, Samuel Akins of Saragossa; daughters, Wendy Tallant Ray of Town Creek and Nikki Gibbons of Jasper; son, Gabriel Akins of Saragossa; sisters, Sherry O'Brien of Fultondale, Nina Akins Strickland of Jasper, Doris Kruce of Hoover and Kathy Lewis of Bremen; brother, Eddie Akins of Empire; grandchildren, Taylor Tallant, Brianna Gibbons, Brody Tolbert and Allistar Akins.
The family requests that memorial donations be made to Comfort Care Hospice, 331 19th Street West, Jasper, AL 35501 or to the American Cancer Society.
