Anthony J. Wengeler, 85, former mayor of Calio, N.D., died Friday, Dec. 25, 1987, in Towner county Memorial Hospital, Cando, N.D.
Services will be at 10a.m Tuesday in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Munich, N.D. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday in Dunnigan-Dix Funeral Home, Cando, with a 7:30 p.m. prayer service in the church.
Anthony J. Wengeler was born Dec.22, 1902, in Banner Township, Cavalier County, N.D., the son of Herman and Elizabeth Wengeler. He attended school there and married Ludmilla Haus Nov. 22, 1927, in Calio. They farmed in Banner Township and later moved to Cando before moving to in 1941 to a farm near Calio. They retired in 1968 and moved to Calio. He served as mayor there for 19 years.
Survivors are his wife, daughter, Celestine(Mrs. Harry) Swiontek, Climax, Minn; son Francis, Reynolds, N.D.; five grandchildren, two great grandchildren; brother, Herman, Scottsdale, Ariz, George, Fallbrook, Calif; and sister, Mary Carlton, Grantsville, Utah, Annie and Rose Goeser, both of Devils Lakes; and Clara Hettwer and Alice Bernardy, both of Munich.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Erwin.
