Patricia Ann Allen was born July 1, 1947 in Haverhill, MA, to Barbara and Alvin Smart. At the age of twelve, she moved with her mom, step-father, Victor Roseski, and six brothers and sisters to Sacramento, CA.
While a hostess at the USO she met David J. Allen, and they were married on September 2, 1967, in Sacramento, CA. After being married, Patricia and David moved to Cheyenne, WY. While in Cheyenne, they had their first child, Brian. Shortly thereafter, they were transferred to Ellsworth Air Force Base, SD. Their second child, Jennifer was born a few years later. Both Patricia and David loved the area so much, that they have stayed in the area since and for the last 26 years have made a little cabin in the hills of Piedmont their home.
Patricia was a very supportive and loving wife to David for 46 years of marriage. They enjoyed many activities together including square dancing, fishing, gardening, playing cards and raising their family. Patricia was also a wonderful mother and grandmother. Every chance she got she spent with her children and grandchildren, whether it was playing games like cribbage or monopoly or shopping or score keeping at their Gun Club matches. Patricia was a very talented seamstress and was often found making clothes or dog scarves or special projects requested by family and friends. She was active in the Piedmont American Legion Auxiliary and the Prairie Thunder Gun Club. Patricia retired after 23 years at Consumer Credit Counseling Service.
Patricia died on September 8, 2013, at her home in Piedmont, SD, after a battle with cancer. She was surrounded by love as the angels carried her home.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, David J. Allen; their dog, Rebel; her two children, Brian (Tammy) Allen, Cheyenne WY, and Jennifer (Mike) Johns, Piedmont, SD; her two grandchildren, Dana and Connor Allen, Cheyenne, WY; her brothers Dennis (Judy) Smart, Elverta, CA, Ron (Mary Ann) Smart, Sacramento, CA, Michael Roseski, Valrico, FL, and Robert Smart, Delta, OH; and her sisters, Chris (Vern) Davis, Sacramento, CA, and Terry (Tom) Brown, Carmichael, CA. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews, in-laws, and very good friends. Patricia was the kind of person that once you met her you were forever a friend.
She is preceded in death by her father, Alvin Smart; her step-father, Victor Roseski; and her mother, Barbara (Smart) Roseski.
