Advocate, The (Baton Rouge, LA) - Sunday, April 6, 2008 Deceased Name: Berthelot Sr., Thomas Wayne A native of Baton Rouge, Tommy died peacefully at Our Lady of the Lake Medical Center on Friday, April 4, 2008. He was 64 and a lifelong resident of Baton Rouge - home to his beloved LSU Tigers. He spent much his life in the lumber industry from which he retired in 2001. As an accomplished saxophonist, he will be remembered for his love of music and entertaining countless people for nearly 50 years in several local bands. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonce Berthelot and Eliska Berthelot Bourgeois; brother, Leon Berthelot; and aunt, Rita May Theriot, who died one year to the day prior to Tommy's passing. He is survived by his wife, Brenda Pichon Berthelot; brother, Richard Berthelot; and sister, Lydia Allen and their families; sons, Thomas Jr. and Chris Berthelot; stepdaughter, Rachel Barron; and grandsons, Miles and Lennon Berthelot and Colt Barron. He was also the "father" of his two beloved poodles, Bitsi and Saxi. A memorial service will be held in the near future. Specific details will be posted in the newspaper at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Tomsaxman Music Appreciation and Education Fund at Chase Bank.
