Son of Andrew and Olivia Alexander. Husband of Margaret Baumgardner Alexander. Father of Andrew Daniel Alexander and Franklin Pierce Alexander. Brother of Fannie Wilson, Rosa Cassell, Carrie Koontz and Susan Boone.
He was a long-time farmer but had retired eleven years before his death. He had also served as a local justice of the peace.
He died at home of heart problems at age 68 years, seven months and 24 days
