Inga Beatha Solem was the first child to be born in the United States. Inga's parents, Bryngel and Ingeborg Solem immigrated to the United States from Soknedal, Midtre Gauldal, Sor-Trondelag, Norway with four children, Carrie, Christi, Henry and John on the 5 April 1882. They came directly to Canton, Lincoln County, South Dakota.

Inga first married Frank Miller. No children from this marriage.

Second Inga married Oscar Vieding on the 6 September 1928. No children was born from this marriage.

Inga lived her whole life in the Canton area of South Dakota.
