I always remember Dick and his love of electronics. He put together those crystal radio kits and a Lafayette kit or two. Back in those days, the record player and the TV still ran on tubes and Dick, as a teen ager, could test and replace the right tube. In high school he played cornet in the band. In addition to his service in the Air Force, Dick was an officer on the Maumee, OH police department for a number of years. I recall fondly a visit my wife and I had to Utah where he was stationed as a security guard after he left the police force. We took a trip to Great Basin National Park which is a great memory. He and his wife, Sharon, retired to Ocala, FL to a comfortable home in a gated community. Dick was lovingly raised by his stepmother, Thelma Burdo Sechler. She raised him as her own.
