"Edd" Edgar J. Vann, age 93 of LaFollette was born June 28, 1913 and passed away at his home on Sept. 26 after an extended illness He is the last surviving member of his family. He was a founding member of Coolidge First Baptist Church and an ordained decon of the church since May 1948 for 58 years. He worked in the coal mines for 25 years and served as a school board member in Campbell County. He was a staunch supporter and member of the Republican National Committee and was on the board of directors at Bakers forge Cemetery. He was a family man that brought his family up to know the Lord. He was a faithful Christian example to his family and friends. He and his wife loved being surrounded by their family and telling stories from their childhood and early marriage. His place in life will never be filled. But his family is rejoicing in the fact that he is in heaven.

He was preceded in death by his son, Larry Vann; grandson, Jerry Nelson; great grandson, David Ryan Muse; son in law, Lee Nelson; five brothers and six sisters.

He is survived by his wife, Rosa Mae Vann whom he was married to for 72 wonderful years; daughters, Mildred Nelson of LaFollette, Shirley Brown of Delton, MI; daughter in law, Betty Vann; eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; a host of many loved nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Sept. 29 at Coolidge First Baptist Church with the Rev. H. Lee Ray and Rev. Jeff Green officiating. Interment was in the Bakers Forge Cemetery.

Martin Wilson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
