Rev. H. P. Jacobs, a well-known and "respectable man," died at his Natchez residence on Thursday, 14 December 1899, aged seventy-four years. "For several years before his health failed him he filled several pulpits and charges in various Southern States." Rev. Jacobs had also "represented Adams County in the legislature" during the "Republican regime in Mississippi." His widow, "one of the oldest teachers in the Union school," and a son were left "to mourn his demise."
