SHINNSTON — Paul Allen Hardesty, 73, of Willard, went to be with the Lord at 9:20 p.m. Friday, September 13, 2013, at his residence surrounded by many of his family and friends.

He was born at Allied on October 9, 1939, a son of the late James O. and Edna Hartzel Hardesty. On July 24, 1969, he married Wilda Mae Anderson Hardesty, who survives him.

Also surviving are seven children, Timothy Paul Hardesty, Shinnston, Keith Stephen Hardesty, Pine Bluff, Connie Wolfe and her husband Jeff, Shinnston, Jeff Hardesty, Pine Bluff, Rodney Alan Hardesty, Shinnston, Jim Hardesty and his wife Jamie, Shinnston, Mathew Paul Hardesty and his wife Melissa, Shinnston; 10 grandchildren, Kassie Stire, Courtney Welch, Brandi DelRio, Loren Wolfe, Brittany Hardesty, Hallie Hardesty, Morgan Hardesty, Tyler Hardesty, Emma Lee Hardesty, Eli James Hardesty; four great-grandchildren, Logan Welch, Brock DelRio, Bria DelRio, Levi Stire; one brother, Ronald Lee Hardesty and his wife Juanita, King, NC; one sister, Lucille Hardesty Strait, Enterprise; and one sister-in-law, Lydia "Peg" Hardesty, Shinnston.

In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by two brothers, Harland Eugene "Skip" Hardesty and James "Bub" Hardesty; and one sister, Mary Hardesty Hayes Shears.

Paul worked as a welder for 21 years and retired from the West Virginia Department of Highways District 4 in 1989.

He was an avid hunter and sportsman. He loved to "wheel and deal" on cars and loved the farm. His children were his pride and joy, and he loved them all very much.

The family would like to thank the staff of Amedisys Hospice Care and Dr. Kristian Morrison and his staff for their wonderful care.

Friends may call at the Perine Funeral Home, 1348 S. Pike St., Shinnston, from 1-9 p.m. Monday, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 17, with Pastor Robert L.
