Andrew was born in Urspringen, Main-Spessart, Bayern, Germany. German spelling of name was Andreas Mueller. He and his wife arrived in Ypsilanti, MI in 1844. They had a son Joseph born in 1845 and a daughter Mary born in 1851 in Ypsilanti Michigan. His wife and daughter died in Michigan and he later married Caroline (aka Karolina) Gratwohl. They lived in Richmond, VA from 1853 to about 1866. The family moved to Syracuse and he remained there until his death in 1900.
While in Richmond he was a musician in the Public Guard Band. It was reported in his Obituary that he played at the hanging of John Brown, the Abolitionist, in 1859 at Harpers Ferry, West Virginia.
He and his second wife Caroline had the following children: Katharina (Adolph Trost), Minnie (Jacob Galster), Caroline (Carl Trautman), Mary (Marie) (William H. Haberle & George Washington Kavanaugh), Amelia (Albert E. Matthews) and Andrew John Miller Jr (Agnes Frances Burns).
