Ernest is buried in a DuCray Family plot with ten DuCray relatives at Center Grove Cemetery, including his son Thomas Pierce DuCray and daughter-in-law Caroline, and his grandson Thomas Richard DuCray, son of Thomas and Caroline.

Ernest's son Robert Coates DuCray and daughter-in-law Maxine are at rest in Forest Hill Cemetery, Putnam, Indiana. Other close relatives are at rest in cemeteries in Iowa and Colorado.
