In 1938 Jackie sued his stepfather and mother for an accounting of $4,000,000 he said to have earned in his film work. Two years later, they reached an amicable settlement with the Bernstein's and Jackie splitting his remaining fortune. Bernstein was an also an executive for the Mike Lyman Restaurant group (The Brown Derby among others).
